Do Not Quench the Holy Spirit

Paul warned believers not to quench the Holy Spirit (I Thessalonians 5:19) by attempting to hinder His ministry. What happens if you have quenched the Holy Spirit? Can He return? YES! Have you ever felt like you needed your spirit to be revived? I am ashamed to tell you that I've had my heart and spirit broken over the years. I don't know that I would go so far to say that I have "quenched" the Holy Spirit, but I have fallen down and struggled in my spiritual walk.

The road God leads us on is not always easy. But, in the end, God is just awesome! His ways are higher and better. The Psalmist has a lot to say about revival:

Psalm 80:18 - “Revive us, and we will call upon Your name.”

Psalm 85:6 - “Will You not revive us again, that Your people may rejoice in You?”

Psalm 119:25 - “Revive me according to Your word.

Psalm 119:37 -Revive me in Your way.

Psalm 119:40 - “Revive me in Your righteousness.

Psalm 119:88 - “Revive me according to Your lovingkindness.

Psalm 119:107 - “Revive me, O Lord, according to Your word.

Psalm 119:149 - “O Lord, revive me according to Your justice.

Psalm 119:154 - “Revive me according to Your word.

Psalm 119:155 - “Revive me according to Your judgments.

Psalm 119:159 - “Revive me, O Lord, according to Your lovingkindness.

Psalm 138:7 - “You will revive me . . . . .Your right hand will save me.”

Psalm 143:11 - “Revive me, O Lord, for Your name’s sake!

There are times in our life we need revival. We wait for God to come down and save us. There are times we get so angry waiting for him to deliver us. But we have to remember that God does things in His own time. That doesn’t mean he doesn’t love us… He’s still there. He’s just waiting for the right moment to sweep in and carry us when we cannot endure anymore. That doesn’t mean deliverance, but it does reveal His love. This is something that humanity may never understand. I know I can’t comprehend why God does not open up the sky and help me when I need Him the most. I may beg and plead but it seems He’s just not listening. That, of course, is far from the truth. He still speaks to us through His word.

There are times we must wait for God to answer. We want to see Him. We long to be in His presence. We want to go home! Until then, God’s children have to remain in their trials. We exist in this world for one reason... to let the light of the Lord reflect in us! We were created by God to shine His light!!!

Everyone faces tragedy. God will never abandon you. Everyone experiences trials. God is not punishing you. Everyone has pain and sorrow. God is not angry with you.

God loves you! The Savior has come down to prove the ultimate love of God. The sacrifice of our Savior was more difficult than we could ever imagine, but it was worth it to the Father. And then, to top it all off, He left His Spirit with us to give us the eternal comfort we need! God is so good! All the time!

Are you quenching the Spirit? Repent and focus on God.

Are you waiting for revival? I hope you find it.

Are you shining your light? I hope you can recharge your batteries before it’s too late.

Are you hardened and bitter? Release your burdens and let the Lord carry you.

Are you ready to change? May God guide you and bless you.

Have a great week!

You are loved.
