How Deep is the Father’s Love For Us?

While at TITUS Camp a few weeks ago, we sang a song called “How Deep The Father's Love For Us.” Have you heard it? It was written by Stuart Townend and we’ve sang it for years. But, for some odd reason, it hit me different this time.

Romans 8:37-39 says, “Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

The tallest building in the world is the Burg Khalifa which is 2717 feet tall. It was built in Dubai and completed in 2019. It has over 900 residences built into it. They range from studio apartments to four bedroom apartments. At least two people live in each one of these residences. There’s a total of 1800 people living in that building. The entire population of Summerdale Alabama is only 1511 people. Wow!

Mount Everest soars to 29,029 feet. It’s the largest mountain in the world. But that’s because it reaches the highest altitude in the sky. If you include the base of the mountain, and how far it reaches into the ocean floor, Mauna Kea in Hawaii is actually the largest. It only measures 13,796 feet but below the ocean floor we see it is actually 33,480 feet. Making it nearly 4000 feet taller than Mount Everest. Impressive.

The ocean is extremely deep! The deepest and longest trench is Challenger Deep which is estimated to be 35,840 feet. In the middle it’s 6.6 miles long. Then there is the Heidel zone named after Hades because it is so deep, so dark, and impossible to go down into it without risking life. It is over 20,000 feet deep. More people have walked on the moon than explored that trench. Only three people have dared to experience it. One of the reasons is because the pressure is so bad it would be like having 100 elephant standing on your head! Anyone who’s dared to try depth has had their instruments burst once they got to a certain depth. You have to descend extremely slowly and rise extremely slowly or it will literally burst blood vessel’s in your skin. Most impressive.

The Amazon River moves at 7.5 billion cubic feet per second. At its widest it is a 6.8 miles but has been recorded at 28.8 miles wide in the rainy season in South America. The waters are often argued as the largest river in the world. It discharges more than 20% of the water and the globe by its input into the ocean. I know that some might argue that the Nile River is the largest, but a study in 2014 actually affirmed its long held ranking. Crazy, huh?

The earth is roughly 7,917.5 miles around. The sun is 864,600 miles around. With these numbers it would take 1.3 million earths to fit inside of the sun. And, that’s not even the largest star we know about. In 1860 German astronomers discovered UY Scuti that has a radius around 1,700 times the sun. It is about 9,500 light years away from us. It is held to be the center of the Milky Way galaxy. The Milky Way galaxy over 100,000 light years across. Hard to imagine.

The population of the earth is roughly 7.7 billion people. It is estimated that about 110 billion people have lived on the earth since creation about 6000 years ago. That means there are 14 times more people dead that are actually alive today. If you were to take into account all the people who had lived here before, and the ones who live after you, you will live with between 7 and 10% of all the people who ever lived on the earth. Now my head is spinning.

If you’ve held with me this far… Here is my point. Nothing. No one. Nothing living. Nothing dead. No one from earth. No one from Heaven or Hell. No angel. No demon. NO-Thing can physically remove you from the arms of a loving God. Not a single thing.

There is no mountain high enough. No valley valley low enough. No ocean deep enough. No river wide enough. Nothing can separate you from the God who loves you. No amount of time, distance, space, matter or manpower. NO-Thing could keep you from the love of God.

If these facts do not convince you… re-read Romans 8:37-39. This should give you encouragement and hope.
