Living in the Holy Spirit

When I first began writing about the Holy Spirit it was concerning the fruit of the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23). The last section of Galatians five offers a brief conclusion on the work of the Spirit of God in the life of a believer. We might overlook it if we are simply focusing on the works of the flesh versus the fruit of the spirit. Remember that the letter doesn't end here, he will move on in chapter six to talk about helping each other and the obligations of a spiritual person. In fact, he will make some good points about planting spiritual things and not getting weary. However, right here, he sums up His discussion on our spiritual Christian living and fruit bearing.

Galatians 5:24-26 says, "Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified their own sinful selves. They have given up their old selfish feelings and the evil things they wanted to do. We get our new life from the Spirit, so we should follow the Spirit. We must not be proud or make trouble with each other or be jealous of each other." (NCV) Why bear the fruit? Because we belong to Christ! We made a decision to be crucified with Christ. Remember Acts 2:38 and Romans 6? When you go down into this water, you are crucified, are buried, and rise up again! At that moment we must choose to give up our old selfish ways. We surrender the evil lifestyle we used to live and give up the evil things we liked to do. We get a new life from the Holy Spirit!

In our new life with Christ, there is no room in that new life for pride or jealousy. Inside our new life there is only room for one thing… the Holy Spirit of God! God will not share you! You are either His or you are not! (Romans 8) If you are a child of world, then may God help you to see His potential for your life. I pray He will open your eyes to His wonders and His blessings. And, I pray that the Spirit will convict you to change before it's too late. On the other hand, if you are a child of God, then my prayer for you is that you do not resist God's Spirit! I hope that you will see your potential as a servant in the kingdom. I pray that you will find your talents and use them to His glory! These articles I have shared with you will hopefully encourage you to find your full potential.

After concluding a study of the fruit of the Spirit, maybe the best thing we can do is pray! Romans 8 says when we don't know how to pray, the Holy Spirit helps us. here is my prayer for all of us: “Loving God. Creator of all. Giver of life and all good gifts. We are your children, your church, your kingdom, and your people. Help us to better understand and appreciate your ways! Give us a full measure of your Spirit and help us to bear the fruit of love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Help us to resist the works of the flesh and put off our old lives. Guide us as we wear your whole armor in this dark world. Thank you for sending your Son to shine your light. Thank you for your Holy Word that instructs us. Help us as a church to shine in this community and individually help us to bear fruit in our homes, schools, and businesses. We love you for giving us everything we ever needed and more! Help us to give back! In Jesus Name. AMEN.” Have a great week!

You are loved.
